A. In this story, The writer describes the pitiable condition of the poor children who have to live in slum and work hard in dirty conditions .Firozabad is a dirty town. It is famous for its bangles. It is the centre of India's glass blowing industry. For generations, families in Firozabad have been working around glass furnaces ,They weld glass and make bangles for all the women on the land but these people have always been very poor. They have to work in high temperature. They have to work in dingy cells without air and light. About 20,000 children have to work in dark places all day long. Many of them lost their eyesight even before they became adult. The poor bangle makers are exploited by middleman, policemen and politicians.

A. This is an interesting story written by Anee Jung.
In this story , The writer describe a very important incident which happened in Udipi. The man met a man from Udipi. The man said that as a young boy, he would go to school past an old temple. His father was a priest at that temple. The boy often stopped at the temple and he would pray for a pair of shoes.
Writer says that she visited the town 30 years later. The temple had a new priest now.The new priest's son was wearing socks and shoes. The writer remembered the prayer of the another boy had made. He saw that boys like the son of the priest now wearing shoes. But the rag pickers, in her neighbourhood was still shoeless. In this way, the writer wants to draw her attention towards the miserly condition of rag pickers.
